I originally created this animation frame by frame while I was in college.
Years later, I wanted to revisit the same piece from a completely different perspective:
what would this world look and feel like if it actually existed?

Creative Process

Chat GPT
1.   Develop Live-Action Images for each scene.

General Prompt: Generate this art to real-life photo. No paint texture. Preserve the color, light, and composition.

2. Bring and Enhance visuals before video generation.

4. Generate videos using custom prompts.

Prompt: Use the provided image as the exact starting frame and visual reference. Preserve the top-down composition, chubby white cat, deep red sofa, warm golden-yellow sunlight, vivid shadows, tiled floor, wooden table, and realistic photographic look.

The cat is peacefully taking a nap, remaining completely relaxed and almost motionless. Her breathing creates only a very subtle, slow rise and fall through her body. For a brief moment, her right ear quickly twitches/flicks once, like a natural sleeping-cat reflex, then immediately relaxes back into place. Keep the movement small, fast, and realistic—do not move her head or body.

The camera very slowly drifts to the right throughout the shot with a smooth, subtle lateral movement. Maintain the overhead angle and natural perspective. Keep the warm sunlight and strong yellow-golden shadows consistent and stable, with no lighting flicker, no morphing, and no changes to the cat’s proportions or position.

Adobe After Effects 20265. Match the pacing and camera language of the original animation.
Creative Challenges
Turning 2D animation to live-action film

Problem: The hardest part was image generation for this project. The hardest part of illustration-to-photo translation is keeping the subject's pose, proportions, and composition intact while completely changing the rendering style. Most models either changed the style but drifted the structure, or preserved structure but barely changed the style. When I turn my illustration into real life photos, they were mostly distorted and not looking realistic.

Solution: I added structure-conditioning signals to lock in composition and pose while giving the model freedom to hallucinate texture and lighting. And making several attempts actually worked. Even when the first few attempts didn’t work, I continuously gave them the right directions until having the best result.
