Concept: Using AI from ideation and character development to animation and post-production—to create a cohesive,
story-driven Pixar-style 3D short animation.
For this project, I took a deep dive into AI workflows
and explored how these tools can expand storytelling and visual creativity.
Creative Process
1. Set up and write locked visual bible (Creature, location, people, camera/guide) for consistency across the sequence.
Creature: A 23-year-old Asian woman in a Pixar-inspired 3D style. She has medium-length layered brown hair, warm-toned skin, and soft, slightly chubby “baby” cheeks, and a subtle closed-mouth smile with a gentle, friendly expression. She wears an oversized yellow “GOOD DAYS” sweatshirt, olive cargo pants, black boots, and rose gold headphones, black backpack, holding an iced coffee. The look is rendered in a soft matte, clay-like texture.
Location: West 4th Street in New York City, reinterpreted through a stylized but believable lens. The environment is lively and dense, filled with tall skyscrapers that frame the street and create a sense of vertical scale. The street is constantly active, with a steady flow of yellow cabs, cars, and city buses moving through the scene. The sidewalks are wide and busy. The weather is sunny, with bright natural light casting defined. Edges are clean, textures are simplified, and nothing feels overly gritty or photoreal.
People: The street is populated with New Yorkers walking in both directions, creating a constant sense of motion and realism. The crowd reflects a wide age range, from young adults to older individuals, and maintains a balanced and natural gender ratio. People are dressed in stylish, contemporary outfits that reflect New York’s fashion-forward culture, but their designs are intentionally less detailed than the main character. Their color palettes are slightly muted, and their facial features are simplified so they do not compete visually. Their behavior is natural and grounded, with subtle gestures like walking, talking, checking phones, or carrying bags. No one behaves in an exaggerated or cartoonish way. The background characters exist to support the world and enhance realism while keeping the focus clearly on the main character.
Camera/Grade: The color grade is sunny and saturated, emphasizing warm tones while maintaining a balanced, cinematic look. Colors feel rich and lively, especially yellows, greens, and skin tones, but they are not pushed to the point of looking artificial. The overall exposure leans slightly warm, creating a vibrant yet inviting atmosphere

Creative Challenges
Creating the sequencial animation only using Ai from pre-production to post-production
- Reduced production time dramatically (completed in just 2 hours)
- Easily regenerate and iterate on scenes with minimal effort
- Maintains high visual quality throughout the workflow
- Lack of keyframe animation for precise motion control
- Limited ability to use custom creative effects
- Difficult to fine-tune specific elements within a generated clip
